The Bridge: Mind, Body, Movement

         Hello Neighbor!
I have many fond memories growing up (pre-kindergarten) and lying on the carpet in front of the TV in my childhood home, my unicorn (“Uni”) in one hand and an apple juice in the other, watching Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood as my mom was in the kitchen either cooking or tidying up the house and my sister was at school. I LOVED everything about that show. Being that I was a very hyperactive kid there was always a certain calm that came over me while watching it. I loved how Mr. Rogers would get frequent visits from the postman and other folks in his neighborhood. At a young age this small detail instilled in me the belief that being part of a strong community is so important.
Flash forward to today, we are now lucky enough to have our office in sunny Los Angeles, which is such a treat! There’s so much talent bubbling in our own close-knit neighborhood, and in the spirit of Mr. Rogers’ spotlighting everyday standouts I thought it would be fun to introduce you to some of the friends in our Los Angeles neighborhood and give you a peek inside their creative worlds. We hope you are as inspired by these incredible women as we are! -Laura ODell

Get to know Pamela:

1. Tell us a little about yourself and how you came to the idea to open The Bridge?
Something about me, I am older than most people think, I have been with my high school sweetheart for 32 years, I have three beautiful children ranging form ages 10-22 I started teaching Pilates back when it was still Trademarked, and I opened up my studio because a birdie told me so... I was in the crossroads of making my decision when a giant Coopers Hawk flew into my building and perched itself directly over me. It was then that I knew I had to see the big picture, spread my wings and take flight. I opened up my studio a month later.
2. Other than pilates what other forms of fitness do you love doing?
Sex...Duh!! Gotta put all the strength and flexibility I’ve gained through Pilates to some good use right? I also love to dance, I loved it so much I changed my major from Biology to Dance and got a degree in it. I still take dance classes any chance I get, but my new found obsession is jam skating. It’s basically a dance class on roller skates. It is such a welcoming challenge to take what I already love to an entirely new level of control, balance and awareness.
3. If you could fully embody the properties of any natural stone or crystal which one would it be any why?
If I could fully embody the metaphysical properties of a crystal, it would be Selenite. I would use its ability to promote peace and calm, provide clarity to see the truth with no bias or personal agenda and clear any space I am in from negativity as my super power.
4. What’s the one song you can hear over and over without ever getting tired of?
I love the song Grantchester Meadows from Pink Floyd’s Ummagumma album. I hear it and am instantly transported to a place where time stands still, where I can sit in stillness and listen to nature while the sun gently embraces me with its warmth, and then the fly gets swatted at the end and I am forced back to reality ;)
5. Desert or Ocean?

100% the Ocean. I have so much respect for it. It always fascinates me that we are surrounded mostly by water and that right beneath us, there is an entirely different world that cohabitates the planet with us. The instincts, intelligence, communities, hierarchy, is it different or the same as ours up here on land? I guess in a sense, marine life are our true “hello neighbor”!
